Sci-Fi Theme

After reading your sci-fi novel, think about some of the messages that the author wanted to communicate to the reader in order to determine one of the novel's themes.  What topic does the theme of your book relate to?  What is the main message of this theme?  Make sure to support your claim with at least three specific examples from the book.

Sci-Fi Setting

We have been looking at how the setting in our science fiction novels are similar or different to our own culture and environment.  Identify the type of setting that exists in your novel and explain how this setting affects the characters, plot of the story, or both.  Make sure to use concrete examples to back up your claims.

We discussed several characteristics that help to make a classic novel.  Please identify the characteristics that helped to make The Outsiders a classic, list examples that prove your reasoning, and explain why these examples prove your point.

Mystery Mood

An author works hard to make their readers feel emotions in the stories they write.  Emotion is what makes the reader invested in the plot.  IDENTIFY which mood or moods the author of your mystery creates throughout the book.  LIST supporting examples to back this up, and EXPLAIN how these examples create the mood.

In class we talked about the difference between a static and dynamic character?  Now that we have finished the novel, explain whether Cole Matthews from Touching Spirit Bear has proven to be a static or dynamic character?  Support your argument with significant specific examples from both Parts I and II and defend how your evidence confirms your claim.

Historical Fiction Setting
